Eighth Weigh-in Bank Holiday Monday 7th June 2010

And so, some things about this week were wonderful. I managed to keep some kind of control over my smoking during the day (though not in the evening). I engaged in quite a few epic walks. My eating, however, was shocking. I managed to be good in public, but I had one or two secret blowouts. Worst was my visit to my parents. They were staying in a converted barn in the middle of the backend of nowhere in Co. Antrim. My mother is a feeder, and my father has the nutritional know-how of Wallace and/or Grommit (which one eats only cheese?)

Before I go any further, I should of course stress that none of this is anyone’s fault but my own. I need to “own” my mistakes in a self-help book kind of way. This is me owning. So there, so.

For dinner the night I arrived, my parents cooked up a storm. I got a chicken, cheese and potato pie, a meat pie, a mound of mushy peas and a stack of pringles. (If you count with your fingers crossed, your eyes screwed up and your head tilted just so, there were two servings of vegetables in there.) My mother was miffed when I wouldn’t take a second serving of pringles. The dessert was a creamy bun and an entire Terry’s Chocolate Orange. My mother couldn’t finish hers and tried to get me to have some of hers, as well as mine. Wurgh!

Unsurprisingly, given the mentalness of my weekend eating, my stats aren’t great.

Measurements: These are getting even randomer – some down, some up.
Neck: 17 inches/43.2cm
Arm: 16.25 inches/ 41.2 cm (that can’t be right! Surely my neck is bigger than my arm!)
Chest:50.25 inches/127.5 cm (my chest is a metre and a quarter. Really?)
Waist:58.5 inches/148.5 cm
Thigh:33.5 inches/85 cm

Weight: 22 st 10.75 lbs (318.75 lbs/144.5 kg) That’s me up 4.5 pounds or two kilos this week.
BMI: Back up to 48.3
Body fat: 42%/9 st 8.25 lbs

So, it would appear that I’m not even trying, but I am I am! As Miley Cyrus Slash Hannah Montana Slash Your X-Factor Winner 2009 Slash Joe McElderry would sing:

There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose

Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side
It’s the cli-i-i-imb
cli-i-i-imb
cli-i-i-imb
cli-i-i-imb

Wish me luck!
